Shaitan of Tortola is owned and operated by Henry Metz and Iris Mosing since 1995. They lovingly restored her to the well found. gleaming yacht she is today. Henry and Iris left their home in northern Germany 20 years ago, sailing across the Atlantic to the Caribbean in their small sloop, a 29 footer. They were tremendously successful on their first 50 foot charter yacht, but Henry had had his eyes on Shaitan for a while. She was already a well regarded carter yacht , having worked in French Polynesia and even completed a circumnavigation. |

Captain Henry Metz, in his early 50s, started sailing as a young boy. He can look back on nearly twenty years of charter yachting experience, as well having served as a navigator in the navy and on several Atlantic crossings on smaller sailing yachts. He is licensed for yachts of any size, and has been trained in first aid, sea survival and fire fighting. In the 1992 Antigua Race week he won several trophies together with his charter crew aboard his 50 foot sloop Relax. Henry has been a sailing instructor and a Dive Master, and knows all the the great snorkeling and dive spots from the Virgin Islands to Grenada. Beside water sports Henry likes to experience the wonders and mysteries provided by Mother Nature and the spectacle and variety of foreign cultures. Being an engineer by trade, he loves to build and create - all evident in most of the custom refitting and refinements done aboard Shaitan of Tortola by Henry himself. |

Iris is in her mid - forties and has crossed the Atlantic together with Henry on their 29' sloop, coming to the Caribbean. She too is a licensed captain, a former Dive Instructor and a five - time winner of the Grand Marnier Cooking Competition at the annual St. Thomas charter yacht show. Having grown up around her parents' nursery, Iris loves the fascinating flora and fauna of the tropical world, and of course the bounty and diversity of the undersea world. With Iris, you have the perfect snorkel guide with you in the water, and, being a retired Dive Instructor means that Iris is also a trained Rescue Diver. |
